John is the second of four in my Babies of the Bible series. He comes with unique accessories consistent with the historical era in which this child lived. When Jesus went with his family to Egypt to escape Roman persecution, John and his family chose to hide in the hill country. He would have lived in very primitive circumstances to survive. This is why John did not recognize Jesus when he appeared at the Jordan for baptism. They had not seen each other since they were infants although they were cousins.
John is suntanned from rugged outdoor living. He has dark brown eyes, rooted soft brown hair, rooted eyebrows with applied lashes, and detailed realistically painted nails, creases, and shading. He has a full torso which is anatomically correct. He has been weighted with glass beads and polyfil to a whopping 8 pounds for a delightful experience in holding him. He is approximately the size of a 3 month old infant.
Accessories: ...fur tunic as likely made from "animal" skins ...fur pacifier (magnetic) which people of that time devised from available materials to quiet fussy babies and keep them quiet while they were hiding ...soft blanket made from animal skins or woven from natural fibers ....loin cloth used for diapering (no disposables or diaper pins had been invented yet) ...bottle made from "wineskins" and "animal" parts to supplement breastfeeding with the milk from sheep or goats
