Are knock-off or stolen reborn sculpts allowed to be listed?

Knock-off or stolen sculpts are not allowed to be listed on Reborns.com. If you accidently (or on purpose) list such a doll you will be asked to remove it. If it becomes a problem where you continually are listing knock off dolls you will be asked to leave Reborns.com.

Where are the safest places to buy legitimate sculpts?

We recommend you shop at the following reputable vendors to ensure legitimate sculpts:

USA
Bountiful Baby
Truborns
Irresistibles
Dolls So Real
Dolls by Sandie
Enchanted Kreatures Kits

UK
Tinkerbell Creations
I Art Reborn
Fairy Tales Reborn Nursery
Dolli

South Africa
Create a Little Magic
Reborn Supplies

McPherson Crafts (Canada)
The Bonnie Brown Collection (Australia only)
Material Reborn (Brazil)
Rebornsdolls.fi (Finland)
Once So Real (Germany)
BeBaby (Italy)
Mia Bámbola (Mexico)
Kommers Reborn Art (Netherlands)
Kekolandia (Spain)

We do not recommend buying sculpts off Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Wish, Mercari, NPK, Temu, AliExpress or other mass selling sites because the authenticity of dolls can't be trusted since they do not vet sellers and knock-offs and stolen sculpts listings run rampant on these sites.

How do I do layaway or partial payments for a doll?

Once you know someone wants to buy a doll from you on layaway do the following steps:

1) Change the status of the doll to Reserved. Do this by going to the Edit Dolls page and updating the dropdown menu in the Status column.
2) Update the name of the doll to read "NAME OF THE DOLL - First 1/3 payment on layaway"
3) Change the price to be 1/3 of the total cost.
4) Give the buyer the Secret Buying URL that will come up after you change the status to Reserved and instruct the buyer to use that URL to place an order for the doll and to make the first 1/3 PayPal payment for the doll.
5) For subsequent payments invoice the buyer using PayPal or by sending the buyer your PayPal address and instructing them to send you the next payment. Do this until all payments have been paid to you.
6) Once all payments have been made and are cleared (ie, not pending in PayPal) you can ship out the order.
7) Update the tracking number on the Orders page so the buyer gets email updates on where their order is.

Note:
If you don't follow the above steps for doing a layaway sale and instead manually arrange all payments for the sale, the order will never get entered into our system as a sale and we will have no idea a transaction took place. Not only will this result in no order showing in the system under your
Orders page, but also the sale will not count towards your Verified Order count which helps build selling history and trust with future buyers.

Why don't you allow watermarking of photos?

Watermarking of photos are not allowed for the following reasons (which we may have to agree to disagree on):

1) Watermarks do not stop thieves from stealing your images. They will steal your images with or without watermarks and use them. They don't care and having a watermark on the image can actually makes the image look more legit for the thief.

2) Watermarked images are a visual distraction and make for an inconsistent and poor viewing experience for users. Watermarked images are ugly to look at!.

3) Anyone can remove watermarks easily for free in seconds. Try it yourself by uploading (or dragging and dropping) any watermarked image at Watermark Remover and then download the non-watermarked version.

4) While some artists tastefully watermark their photos, others do not and plaster their images with big, bold and ugly watermarks which makes viewing the doll behind it very hard to see.. To not be accused of "playing favorites" with sellers based on how tasteful I think their watermarks are no watermarks on photos are allowed by anyone. This way fair and consistent rules can be applied to all sellers and everyone is treated equal.

Why don't you allow sales or discounts?

Sales or discounts are not allowed for a few reasons.

1) Allowing discounts would result in a "discounts arms race" where if allowed sellers would then feel compelled to offer a discount or sale on all their items to give the illusion that they are being competitive with other sellers and offering "great deals". This is not how I would like sellers to compete with one another.

2) If sellers felt they had to compete by way of discounts, sellers would then start listing items at over-inflated prices only to discount them shortly after so that they could say their doll is on sale for large percentage off (i,e. your typical mattress store fake discount scam). The entire site would then become nothing more than fake discounts which would greatly cheapen the website and make it look like a bargain-bin doll selling website which it is not.

3) Discounts or sales train buyers to expect to always pay less which would result in shoppers either not buying unless the doll was discounted, or buyers would then start annoying sellers by asking them to discount their dolls (even further). This sort of behavior is not something that I want to encourage or teach to buyers.

4) Since the dolls listed on Reborns.com are not commodities but unique one-of-a-kind works of art I prefer the focus to be on the doll's uniqueness, not on the price. As a buyer either you value the price of the doll at what the artist is selling it for or you move on and find a doll more in your price range.

If you want to offer a discount or sale you are welcome to lower your prices and sell your dolls for less, but please don't mention a "sale", or "discount" or "Black Friday", etc. as part of your listing. Instead just lower the price quietly and if someone falls in love with your doll they will buy it at the lowest price you are willing to sell it for.

Why aren't my dolls also showing on Reborns.com's Facebook or Instagram page?

Whether your doll gets posted to Facebook or Instagram is 100% random and only 12 dolls a day are selected. Since Reborns.com gets many more than 12 new dolls a day posted it is likely that your doll will not be selected for that day. It is all random luck of the draw and your odds are based on how many new dolls get posted to Reborns.com that day.

The only way real way to increase your odds would be to post dolls to Reborns.com more often and hope it gets randomly selected for the day it shows on the front page.

If I blocked someone will they still be able to see my Nursery?

If you block someone they won't be able to contact you, order from you, or follow you.

They also will not be able to see your nursery if they are signed into the system. If they sign out of the system they can then be able to view your nursery. They still will not be able to contact you, order from you, or follow you since a person has to be signed into the system for those functions.

Unfortunately blocking someone isn't foolproof. If a buyer really wants to contact you, order from you, or follow you all they need to do is create a new account and they can then get around your blocking (until you block them again on their new account).

What are Closed Orders and Deleted Orders on the ORDERS page?

Think of closed and deleted orders as different folders or areas for you to place your orders if you don't want them all in your main orders inbox. It is just a function to help you keep your orders more organized.

When you delete an order or move it to the closed folder behind the scenes there is absolutely nothing going on other than just moving it out of the main orders folder.

This functionality was added to the system because some people don't like to see finished orders, cancelled orders and/or duplicate orders all in their main Orders inbox/folder cluttering things up with their active orders.

Moving orders to Closed or Deleted is completely optional. If you don't mind all order types being in one main area/page you can skip moving orders to Deleted or Closed.

If I have a reborn listed that hasn't sold and my paid membership expires and I come back to Reborns.com weeks/months/years later would the doll automatically show again? Or would I have to start from scratch and enter all the pictures and words again in order to relist it?

If you come back to Reborns after a lapse in paid membership everything will be exactly as it was before with your account. Your dolls would still be on the system and nothing would need to be relisted.

With your paid membership your dolls will continue to show under Your Nursery page (which also happens with the free membership plan), but additionally your dolls would also rotate through the front page Artists Showcase section without you having to do anything.

In the Artists Showcase section one doll from every artist/seller rotates downward one position every 5 minutes thus giving each artist/seller exposure on the system which also includes front page spotlight some of the time.

Typically it takes around two days for one of your dolls to rotate all the way through the Artist Showcase section before your next doll (if you have one) shows on the front page again. If you don't have another doll your same doll will rotate through again.

If I lower a price on my dolls, do people who have favorited them (or who follow me) receive a notification that the price has been lowered?

Notification emails are not sent when you change the price or any part of a listing. This is by design because peoples email boxes would quickly be overloaded with endless email updates since sellers are always adjusting prices. Also, if we were to send out such emails it would train buyers to expect discounts or sales when buying which is not something that is in the best interest of the marketplace or most sellers on the platform.

My membership ends in X number of days. If I renew my membership today will I lose those X days with the new membership?

You won't lose any days by renewing early. Your new membership days will just be added to whatever days you currently have on the system.

What are credits and how do i use them?

Credits are optional way buy extra advertising for your items. With credits you can feature any one of your items on the top of the front page in the Featured scroller and also on the Featured page. This will bring more spotlight and advertising to your item.

The position and length of time that your item will stay on the front page scroller is based on how quickly other members feature their items. Each time a member features an item your item will move down one position until it reaches the 21st position and then it no longer shows on the front page in the scroller but it will continue to show on the Featured page. The quicker that members feature items the shorter period of time your item will stay on the front page in the scroller, or conversely the slower other members feature their items the longer your item will stay on the front page in the Featured Scroller.

To get started featuring items, go to the Renew Membership page to purchase credits then use the credits by clicking on the Feature button on the Edit Items page or by clickingthe Feature Your Items button after you sign in.

Are multiple selling accounts allowed?

It is allowed to have multiple selling accounts. Sometimes sellers like to do this if they have high end dolls and also sell lower end dolls. There are also other reasons as well. It will cost you more to do this and you won't get any extra advantage when it comes to advertising. All I ask is that you don't post the same dolls on multiple accounts.

If you want to avoid the additional cost of having multiple accounts but still want some seperation between your items consider adding various categories in your account and placing items into them.

Keep in mind that having a single selling account is easier to administer and any feedback you receive isn't split up across accounts so you will build of your reputation faster with one account. But the choice is up to you how you want to portray your business and how much you want to spend to do so.
