Please welcome baby Sue Sue created from the sold out limited edition “Sue Sue” sculpt by Natali Blick. She is not a “boo boo” baby, but there were some rough areas on some finger tips and toes that wanted to grab paint making it appear uneven. This is not terribly noticeable and she remains stunning, but I want to point it out up front. If you can accept this, please read on for her details.
Sue Sue has a cloth body with full vinyl limbs. She is about 23” and weighs around 6.8 pounds. I have weighted her with enclosed fine glass beads and poly-fil so that she can hold her head up in a sitting position- since she is an awake older baby. You can turn her head and limbs for posing. As with other Sue Sues the body she came with makes her legs sit kind of apart- perfect when sitting up or carrying on your hip-as you might a real baby.
I took pictures at various times of the day in different places to try to capture how she looks in different lighting, so you will see some differences in skin tone in my pictures. She has a fair complexion that I call roses and cream- because it is neither as pink as a strawberries and cream complexion nor as warm as peaches and cream . I wanted her to have the big dark eyes and pale skin often seen in images depicting babies from the Victorian/Edwardian era—and she does! I shaded thin skin areas and added veining and other details to give her a lifelike appearance. Her nails have painted tips and have been sealed. She has light-medium brown painted hair. This baby was painted entirely with Ultimate Fusion and I love the results.
Her dark brown eyes are from Eyeco and are framed with applied (glued) upper lashes and painted lower lashes. I have sealed her vinyl to protect the paint with a Soft Touch varnish, so she feels smooth and velvety. I added gloss in places typically moist. She has a strong magnet inside for her pacifier and should be kept away from sensitive electronic devices such as pacemakers.
Sue Sue will come with the vintage 1930’s baby dress she was photographed in- it does show wear, but is adorable on her. It is size 12 months, but fits because babies were smaller then. She also comes with the floral sleep and play outfit that is modern and fits wonderful- it is size 3-6 months. I am including the tiebacks/headbands she is wearing, a disposable diaper, magnetic pacifier, pink muslin swaddle blanket as well as art studio birth certificate, certificate of authenticity, and care instructions.
