I love creating lifelike babies and art dolls and have been painting for myself, friends, and have sold some babies to collectors over the last four years. Even so, my workspace is overflowing so I have decided to offer some of my early work at discounted prices. These babies were started, but never quite finished until recently, thus they are new and never displayed, they are just not 100 percent like my current work and style. Anything that I consider a flaw will be noted.
Offered in this listing is a wonderful newborn sized baby created from the Meg sculpt. Meg was brought to life using many transparent layers of paint to give her a lifelike skin tone. She has fair skin with mottling, blushing, and gentle shading of thin skin areas and creases. I have created light veins that appear to be under the skin. Her nails were painted with natural looking tips. She has painted eyebrows and I rooted her lashes then sealed them inside. Her hair was painted strand by strand in light and medium brown. She was sealed with matte varnish so there is a slight texture. I have taken pictures across several days at different times in natural light thus you will see differences in how her skin tone appears.
Meg is about 19.5 inches and around 5 pounds. Inside she has enclosed glass beads and poly fil. I weight my babies to be a little floppy as I think they pose and cuddle better. Her head will need support just like a real infant. I have included a photo with her unclothed so that you can see the body. Although Meg has 3/4 limbs, I put her on a body for full legs because I felt her legs were long enough to work that way and it allows for her to wear just a diaper or bodysuit without the cloth showing above her legs. She does have a magnet inside for her pacifier, so she should not be close to those with Pacemakers or some other types of electronic devices.
She will come with the clothing she is pictured in, magnetic pacifier, two headbands, a receiving blanket, birth certificate, and care instructions (see last photo). Other items are photo props and are not included. The gray and white outfit is from Haute Baby and although a little big, looked so cute on her I decided to send it. This garment and the bodysuit have been used on babies in my collection and laundered, please consider them bonus items tossed in for free. The bunny and owl sleeper was purchased new at The Children's Place awhile back and I just removed the tags. She fits newborn size best.
Meg is adorable, but she is an early baby and is priced accordingly. Here is what I consider an imperfection: Her hair is not exactly as I wanted. It does not look bad and far more realistic than some painted hair I have seen, just not quite perfect to me. Meg is still a nice baby and I am sure someone will enjoy adopting her! Please ask any questions before buying as Meg is a final sale item and I cannot accept returns. Please keep in mind that she is an art doll, not play and because of the glass beads not really safe for children. Thank you for considering her!
