Imani
Welcome Reborn baby Imani! I reborned her from the Imani kit of Bountiful Baby’s discontinued Kinby line. Kinby babies were a line of factory made dolls, made from scans of real babies, like Realborns, but made for ages 3+. A Kinby baby could be bought and sent for $144 + tax. They came in a nice box, wrapped in a soft kinby blanket, wearing socks, a diaper, and kinby onesie. Girls had a hair band. And they came with a magnetic pacifier. [I know because I got one for my daughter]. The head and limbs were filled with pollyfill, and the body was stuffed with and some “baby fat” pellets. They had minimal factory paint. Kinby babies have hair molded into their sculpt.
When they discontinued the line, they sold some sets of heads and limbs, on the bountiful baby supply site. So, I decided to reborn some. I consider Imani a “reborn playborn”. While, I wouldn’t recommend her for anyone under 5, she was painted with heat set paints, which have a bit of durability to gentle play. She is stuffed with plastic poly pellets and polyfill vs fine glass beads, so she is lighter. [and if they were ever to spill, they are easier to pick up and put back in.]. The blank kits that were sold, were not sold with COA’s-only their completed dolls, which is why she doesn’t have one].
Baby looks cute as a boy or girl. She is magnet free, and takes a modified pacifier. If someone wants a lower cost baby for themselves, you can always reweight her to your liking.
Since she is now a hand painted reborn, she still needs to be carefully handled. I’m not responsible for wear and tear to reborn or paint due to handling, or play.
Her painting technique is not perfect, so please be aware of this prior to purchase. But, I still think she is really cute! See photos, they are part of the description. She is listed at a lower cost because of this. There’s nothing inherently wrong with it, but darker skin tones are harder to paint and require a different technique. It doesn’t take away from her beauty, however. She is only the second AA baby I’ve painted, so I’m still working on my skill set. She doesn’t have any paint rubs, or missing paint.
She has full limbs for maximum poseability. She is approximately 17” with slightly bent legs. She weighs 2.52lbs. She wears size preemie. She is painted with many translucent layers that include veining, undertones, shading, blushing. There’s also glossing on her lips, in mouth, & in ears, nose, and on nails. After painting her molded hair, I added details along the front/side hairlines, and varnished with a slightly Satin varnish to make the color pop, and look more like real hair. She was painted with heat set paints, and a heat set matte varnish was used on her limbs and face. Her eyes are brown. She has applied lashes too. She has a textured varnish on her face to give the illusion of pores/real skin, and some on legs.
She has rings on her neck and legs for easy turning.
Her limbs and head are vinyl. [not silicone]. I photograph using natural light, in different settings, with my Cannon Rebel.
