Up for your consideration is my version of the sleeping Sage Realborn kit by Bountiful Baby. I am very pleased with the way this precious kit has been transformed by me into such a realistic looking baby doll.
The doll was painted using only Genesis Heat Set Paints. I gave him many translucent layers of paint to achieve this result. His body is a non-jointed cloth body recommended for this kit by Bountiful Baby. His limbs are full length which allows for a larger selection of clothing. His limbs and head can be gently turned for posing. The legs can be carefully turned for posing. The arms have a little less ability to move. I would recommend not turning them excessively. The head needs to be supported as though it were a real baby. The baby feels flexible and floppy and is a joy to hold.
I have weighted him with fine glass beads and quality fiber fill. She is a small doll and feels very cuddly when held. Her head will need to be supported as though she were a real human baby.
I have given him realistic looking skin tones with many additional details such as mottling, blushing, attention to wrinkles and folds and delicate broken capillaries. He was given subtle blue undertones in areas where the skin would be thinner. The parts were sealed with a matte varnish for extra realism and protection.
I opted to give my doll an incredible head of rooted mohair. I have used mohair from Slumberland Nursery in both kid and yearling mohair plus very fine alpaca for the hair towards the cheeks. It is rooted in a realistic pattern with an adorable swirl on the crown. It can be curled or combed straighter. I have left it a bit longer and can be combed and styled carefully. It is securely glued from inside. I am very pleased with the end result of spending the additional time to root the hair. The eyelashes were rooted with a slightly darker color and the eyebrows are painted in a slightly darker shade also.
This is a closed-eyed baby and I gave her very wispy rooted lashes.. The eyelashes are rooted with fine quality mohair and glued from within.. I do recommend using care when putting clothing over her head.
Heisnostrils were shaded for realism. I gave the doll very pink blushed fingers and toes. I gave the fingernails a baby manicure look.
I opted to give this little one a magnetized pacifier. Please use caution around anyone with a pacemaker or any electrical equipment that might be sensitive to a strong magnet.
The doll was created from a first quality kit however I have misplaced the COA. I only work with first quality and I have included the receipt for the kit. I purchased it from Bountiful Baby as a sale close out. Also, all of the clothing she is seen wearing in the pictures. I will include a care sheet with my suggestions for keeping the doll in pristine condition. My doll is not meant to be a play toy for a young child and should be treated as a fine collectible. With proper care my doll will stay beautiful for many years to come.
