There are many different ways to create reborns. I use only the best materials and most realistic methods of painting and rooting.

When I first started out, I used one skin color and then moved on to mottling and creasing layers. It was quick and easy. Many dolls are painted this way. But whenever I would see an incredibly real looking reborn I would ask the artist how they painted it, and nearly all were done using the “primary method.” So I learned the primary method from master artist Sue-Ellen Taormina and after lots of practice I had the method down. Now it takes me several days to paint many translucent layers of red, yellow and blue that overlap each other to make a realistic skin tone that has the color variations of real skin.

Another very important difference in reborns is the quality of the eyes. Eyes are so important to the overall realism. You want to be able to gaze into your baby’s eyes, and I spend a lot of time making tiny adjustments so your baby will gaze back up at you, German glass eyes cost 10 times as much as acrylic eyes, and contribute greatly to realism. I’m a bit obsessed with quality eyes, and I order only the very best. Even the best eyes can be ruined with bad eyelashes. Rooted eyelashes are a very difficult skill to learn. I’ve worked hard to get to the point where I can root them correctly, and I carefully cut individual lashes to different lengths for the most realistic lashes possible.

My babies are weighted carefully and correctly so that they feel like a real baby and nestle up against you when you hold them in your arms. I use only the highest quality angel silk poly fill that doesn’t clump up and feels so huggable.

No detail is overlooked and I never take shortcuts and the result is ultra realistic babies ready to come home to you. I hope that you enjoy looking through my nursery.
