I will be listing Harper on other venues. If he has tugged on your heart like mine, do not hesitate to make him yours. Up for your consideration is my version of the full vinyl torso doll Harper, from Bountiful Baby. While I rarely repeat a doll kit I have made an exception for this darling kit. I love the full vinyl anatomically correct little boy torso. The vinyl torso fits around the cloth body like a little turtle shell. While some artists opt to cut the torso in half I love the look of it as it is. Because the torso wraps around the cloth body a very small part of the cloth may show through where the limbs connect up to the cloth body. The torso was painted to match the lovely skin tones of the rest of the doll. Please be aware that this type of kit will not have the floppier feel of a reborn doll with a cloth body. The doll still feels so precious when held. The full length limbs can be carefully moved. The doll's head can be turned from side to side. Always be careful when dressing and undressing the doll to not put too much pressure on the parts.
Harper has been painted only with genesis heat set paints. This has been my choice of paints since I started reborning. The paints bond with the vinyl and do not fade or flake off with time. With care my dolls can remain beautiful for many years and can even be passed on as an heirloom.
I gave Harper incredible realborn baby skin tones. He has very realistic mottled skin tones. I gave the doll very realistic veining, subtle blue undertones in areas where the skin would be thinner. The doll has amazing blushing on the limbs, hands and feet. I gave the doll a very realistic baby look manicure of the finger and toe nails. The doll was given a coat of permanent matte varnish. I gave the doll very slight moisture on the corners of his mouth, inside of the nostrils. and on the corner of baby's eyes. Harper has hand painted accentuated eyebrows.
Since this doll is so special to me I have taken many hours, days and weeks to give him an amazing head of rooted hair. It is from Slumberland Nursery. The little mop top was rooted with yearling mohair and the other areas of the head were rooted with kid mohair. The hair is very black. I've used the same yearling mohair to root baby's eyelashes. I've left the hair a bit on the longer side. Since it is extremely fine hair it does take some care in maintaining the style. It can be a bit flyaway. I find it best to add a bit of moisture and comb it into a nice style. It is rooted in a nice directional pattern. It is not ultra rooted but has 1 to 3 hairs per plug. I used a very fine 42 to 46 gauge needle with a single barb so the hair doesn't look pluggy. Also, it may benefit the hair to spritiz it occasionally with Silken Child hair spray. Harper's hair has been securely glued from within. The hair does not tangle but does need combing to keep it neat.
I've weighted Harper with only high quality materials. No sand was used in weighting Harper. He is a very realistic feeling 5 3/4 pounds. Because of the full limbs he can wear a larger variety of clothing.
The doll was given a magnetic pacifier so use caution around any person or equipment sensitive to such magnets. MY DOLL IS NOT MEANT TO BE A PLAY TOY FOR A CHILD. It should be handled as a fine collectible. The layette will include the clothing Harper is wearing. The boppy cusion and cradle are not included. I will include a care sheet with my personal suggestions for keeping the doll pristine. I always include a custom Certificate of Adoption with the name of the adopting parent, and the name of the doll. If you do not want the name of Harper let me know what name you would like along with the name of the adopting parent.
It has taken me a lot of time in my nursery to bring Harper to this amazing realistic looking reborn doll. I try to include everything in my descriptions.
